StratEQ turns your budget, debts, savings and net worth into a plain-English verdict.
Doing that well means being straight with you about data. This page says, in plain
language, what we collect, what we don't, and what your rights are. It applies to the
StratEQ app and website at strateq.app.
The short version: the financial numbers you type into StratEQ are stored on
your own device, not on our servers. Your account with us is just your email, your name
if you gave one, and which plan you're on. We don't sell data, we don't run ads, and we
don't use tracking analytics.
What we collect, and why
- Your financial numbers — stored on your device. The incomes, expenses, debts,
assets and goals you enter are saved in your browser's local storage so the app works.
They are not uploaded to our servers. If we ever introduce synced storage (for example,
to keep your data across devices), it will be clearly announced, protected, and this
page will be updated first.
- Account details. When you create an account we store your email address, your
name if you provide one, a securely hashed password, and your plan (free, Plus or
Premium). That's what makes sign-in and your subscription work.
- Billing. Paid plans are processed by Lemon Squeezy, our merchant of
record. Your card details go to them, not us — we never see or store them. Lemon
Squeezy tells us your subscription status (for example "active") so the right features
unlock, and handles invoices, taxes and refunds. Their privacy policy:
lemonsqueezy.com/privacy.
- The "notify me" list. If you leave your email to hear about updates, we store
that email, the fact that you consented, and where you signed up from. We use it only
for what you signed up for, and every email includes an unsubscribe link.
- Basic technical logs. Our hosting providers keep standard, short-lived server
logs (such as IP addresses and requests) to keep the service secure and running.
What we don't do
- We don't sell or rent your personal information. To anyone.
- We don't run advertising or share your data with advertisers.
- We don't use tracking or analytics scripts in the app.
- We don't connect to your bank accounts — you choose what to enter.
- We don't email you marketing without your consent.
Who processes data for us
We keep the list short, and each provider only handles what it needs to:
- Supabase — account sign-in and subscription records, hosted in the EU (Ireland).
- Cloudflare — serves the website and app.
- Lemon Squeezy — payments, as merchant of record.
How long we keep things
Account details are kept while your account exists. Delete your account and they go
with it. The numbers stored on your device are yours — clearing your browser data or
signing out of a device removes them from that device. Waitlist emails are kept until you
unsubscribe or we retire the list.
Your rights
We hold ourselves to POPIA (South Africa) and GDPR-grade standards regardless of where
you live. You can:
- See what we hold about you — ask and we'll send it.
- Correct anything that's wrong.
- Delete your account and data — email us and it's done.
- Withdraw consent for emails at any time (or just click unsubscribe).
- Complain to your data-protection authority — in South Africa, the Information
Regulator.
Security
Connections are encrypted (HTTPS), passwords are hashed — never stored readable — and
database access is locked down so accounts can only read their own records. No system is
perfect, but we keep the amount of data we hold deliberately small: the less we have, the
less there is to protect.
Children
StratEQ isn't directed at children under 18, and we don't knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we'll say so plainly on this page and,
for significant changes, tell account holders by email. We won't quietly move the
goalposts.
